--geometry setting overridden by config file

Asked by Monty

I have had a nagging issue for a long time. When I open an terminator window, it always opens to the same size.

I use a script to open terminals and want to specify geometry on the command line.. I finally dug in to figure out why, and started searching for answers. I originally thought it was an issue with the window manager but it turns out to be an issue with terminator.

if I open a terminator window with a specified geometry like this - 'terminator --geometry=1200x300' , I noticed the window initially displays in the specified geometry, but then snaps to the default size.

I can edit the size values in ~/.config/terminator/config, and it will give me a new window size on startup, but if I change any options in the settings dialog, the default values are written back and I lose my new window size settings.

The settings dialog doesnt have a setting for a default initial display size.

I tried just removing the default size entry in the config file.. and once again the default values are restored after using the settings dialog.

Has anyone encountered this? Any ideas ?

I am running cinnamon and MATE on Mint 17.1
