Apply change in config file without re-start terminator

 When I change something in the GUI configuration interface, the change is apply immedatly. So, apply change without restart terminator in ~/.config/terminator/config seem possible (or must be easily possible), no ?

It is possible, but I don't think it's a good idea and we actually removed the feature in the past. It's too easy to get confused or introduce a bad config.

Too bad, because this feature could allow to make easily some script code to change the level of transparency really quickly. I love to change wallpaper but the level of transparency must be different between a light and a dark background, and change the level of transparency in the GUI interface is too painfull. A shortcut keyboard to ajust the transparency "on the go" would be cool.

To my mind, rewriting the config file on the fly is the wrong way to achieve the things you want. A much better way would be the dbus server that we've started to introduce. It is designed to allow things running inside a terminal to communicate with Terminator and send commands that will affect the terminal. For now it only exposes commands for splitting, but over time I hope we will be able to extend this to include things like colours and transparencies, etc.
