Change cursor shape dynamically

Asked by bootleq

Hi, is there a way to set cursor shape dynamically, in applications like Vim?
Since terminator manage the cursor itself, maybe we can accept some control codes for this purpose?

Example below works for set cursor color (use escape codes defined with xterm):

Cursor appearance and escape codes would likely me entirely the domain of the VTE widget that we use - I don't think Terminator itself would play any part in this. (It's the same widget that GNOME Terminal uses).
They track bugs at bugzilla.gnome.org - perhaps it would be worth asking there?

Can you help with this problem?
