Need more info about using layouts

Asked by Mike Blyth

I'd like to open Terminator with a preset layout with several panes/terminals. I can't figure out how to do that with the preferences manager-layouts or with the layouts section in config. Where can I find more details about the syntax of the layouts definitions and some examples? If it should be possible to construct a layout in the preferences manager with version 0.95, how is that done?

Thanks.

Open Terminator, set up the layout you want, then go into the preferences, in the Layout tab and click 'Add'. That will snapshot the current layout as best it can, and you can give it a name. Thereafter you can get it again by running terminator -l THE_NAME_YOU_CHOSE.

I had to use terminator -m -l Routers to load my custom layout. Without the -m my layout would not load and terminator would crash. The -m will maximize the screen, which I assume is required if your Terminator window is maximized before you start to make a new layout. Now I can instantly ssh to 8 different devices and configure and monitor them all at once without switching tabs!

Can you help with this problem?
