X (Linux's display manager) has two clipboards. If you just select some text and do nothing else, you can paste it by just clicking the middle mouse button. This is called the selection buffer and is separate from the full clipboard that is controlled by the Copy/Paste features of applications. In theory we could add a feature for a one click paste, but it would interfere with our existing context menu.
