using a new language

Asked by boulus

Hi all,

In the Languages section of the Preferences it is said that you can add a new language to the list (mine is arabic), so I downloaded the ar_LC_MESSAGES_i18n.in.mo file but did not know where to put the file so that the new language will appear in the list of languages in the Preferences.

Thanks in advance for youe help.....

Unfortunately the Arabic translation cannot be enabled. A translator made too many mistakes regarding the string formatting specifications, and forcing Task Coach to use it would probably crash it.

Just to clarify: did you download the existing translation or did you do the translation yourself ?

I have downloaded the ar_LC_MESSAGES_i18n.in.mo file.

Any way, never mind if the Arabic language will not work, but can I display the table of tasks from right to left ?!!!!

No sorry, that's not supported. Even RTL text like in Arabic or Hebrew is only partially supported.

I am working with taskcoach. I would like to have an arabic version of the software. I have the experience to do the translation process correctly from scratch. Can we start to have Arabic as a supported language.

Yasser, I hope Jerome will reply soon, but my understanding is that it's possible and welcome to do a full from-scratch Arabic translation. I don't know what's involved or what the issues may be.

Aaron, It would work as follows:
By choosing the the language, we choose the option "Let the system determines the language"
After that the systems has the program in control and it is RTL.
All what i need to know, when we have this case which translated file is in action?
We can replace it with a good translated arabic file. I think after that we have an arabic version.

Can you help with this problem?
