Canceling but not deleting tasks

I have created special category named 'cancelled'. How do I make tasks not visible by default in this category?

Sorry, but hiding categories is a feature that is not implemented (even though it would be nice). You might be surprised to know that this seemingly obvious idea is actually absent from nearly all organizing tools. I hope Task Coach will get it one day, but for now, you might want to select all those items and do "save selected tasks to new task file" in the File menu so that you keep your record and then delete them from you main file.
