sync tsk file while it is used by another user

Asked by Guido

Hello,

first of all thanks for this great software.

Since version 1.4 Task Coach has multiuser support. I would like to sync the .tsk file to my android device.
Because I'm not keen on having my data in the cloud, I want to do the job with rsync.

Is it possible to do a sync using rsync (or if this isn't possible dropbox) while another person is using this .tsk file too?

Thanks in advance

Guido

The main question (can we rsync with shared files) is something I hope Jerome can answer.

Just adding this note:
Note that the Task Coach program for Android is an independent development by an independent developer who has done little direct collaboration with us, it's still beta, and is not an official Android client. The client is not Free Software / Open Source, so we cannot evaluate what it does nor support it ourselves. It has not reached full release state anyway (although we could not support it regardless until it is released under a compatible license with the main program). We would be happy to have someone help write an official client still.

I think the only way you could use rsync would be by setting up a very frequent cron job. Not very elegant. And I don't even know how this would work on Android.

There is no built-in Dropbox support in Task Coach, you just have to work on a task file that is saved in your Dropbox folder; again I'm not sure this is an option on Android; I'm more of an iOS guy...

Can you help with this problem?
