How can I make the systray icon transparent or black background?

How can I make the systray icon transparent or black background?

Running Debian (Wheezy 7.0 / 64bit), the minimized systray icon has a forced white background.
My WM systray has a dark/black background, and the taskcoach icon is the only one appearing as a white block with the taskcoach icon in it.

The graphic at /usr/share/pixmaps/taskcoach.png appears to be a transparent image. I cannot locate any other images to possibly edit.
