file compatibility between versions

Asked by Frank Van Damme

I'm currently on version 1.3.27, and I was wondering if some day I may run into trouble mixing versions. I share my task coach file between computers running different Linux distributions, which means on one computer I may upgrade TaskCoach from source, but on another it's installed from a package. I don't want to end up saving a file I can't read or that loses data on an older version, so is it safe to mix (minor) versions?

Not always. The file format has its own (hidden) version number, mostly independent from the application's. There is currently no way to tell when the underlying file version has changed, aside from digging into the SVN history...

Can you help with this problem?
