Actual Start Date on 1.3.7 gets 'reset' on re-open

Asked by Habitual

Frank/Team:....

Today I re-opened TC 1.3.7 and my tasks were marked inactive, but I also noticed the Actual Start Date for all tasks in sub task Jan-Jun were stamped with today's date and the time I re-opened the file. This is the same file as attached to https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3523360&group_id=130831&atid=719134.

Do you want me to open another task file (locally) and test it out and update the ticket?
What is the next indicated step?

Thank you for your time.

The "Actual Start Date" field has been/was previously hidden until today.

Hi John,

Please upgrade to the latest version of Task Coach (1.3.13) and let me know how that version works out for you. Because we provide support for free we cannot support older versions of Task Coach.

Thanks, Frank

Frank:

Updated this day to taskcoach-1.3.13-1.opensuse.i386.rpm
Problems with 'inactive' and 'Actual Start Date' still exist.

Please advise.

Hi John,

I understand that 1.3.7 made some unexpected (and unwanted) changes to your task file. But in what way is release 1.3.13 not functioning properly?

Thanks, Frank

Frank:

1.) All my tasks get marked 'inactive' after quitting and restarting tc.
2.) All my "Actual Start Date" gets stamped with date|time tc was started.
NOTE: My actual .tsk file has been through at least 5 REVs/VERs of taskcoach.
I have not fired up any new .tsk file to see if the issues exist.

Thank you.

John,

You have some weird dependencies between tasks. The 2012 task is a prerequisite for the top level task. And there are one or two other dependencies. You probably didn't mean to create those? Since tasks that have unfinished dependencies are always inactive, I think that explains the weird behavior you're seeing.

If you make the "prerequisites" column visible in the task viewer it's easy to see the tasks that have prerequisite tasks defined.

Cheers, Frank

Small correction: "Since tasks that have unfinished *prerequisites* are always inactive..."

Frank:

Thanks, I managed to "break" the dependency on one ("Timecards > 2012") and that cleared up the "inactive" "issue". The other I can live with.

I'll start a new sub-task "Timecard > 2012 > Jun-Dec" in another month and I'll be certain to NOT have any prerequisites on it.

Thank you!
