Categories - Finding related tasks

Asked by ADowers

Is there a way to find related tasks of a category from the category pane, or am I limited to performing a filter of the Task pane each time I need to see all related tasks? It would be nice to click on a Category and see all related tasks.

Filtering is one option, another option is to make the category column visible in the task viewer.

I understand you'd expect to see a tasks (and notes, they can be categorized as well) tab in the category edit dialog. However, then people would expect to be able to add and remove tasks in that tab as well. The simple solution of displaying all tasks and mark the tasks that already belong to that category with a marked checkbox would defy the original purpose of making it easy to see which tasks belong to the category... So, although it sounds easy to add a tab to the category dialog, it actually opens a can of worms :-)

My apologies. I guess I am confused. I am simply used to another task program I am moving away from (for other reasons) which when clicking on a category it will (auto-filter) or (auto-sort-and-view) all the tasks related to that particular category. It is not a problem if the best way to see all tasks related to a particular category in TaskCoach is to simply filter the Task pane. I was just hoping for a little cleaner method than to have to drill down through the View menu everytime.

Thanks for your assistance.

No need to drill down the View menu, you can simply check the checkbox next to the category. This assumes you have a category viewer opened of course.

Can you help with this problem?
