tagin response time

Asked by Steve White

When I move from one location to another it takes between 90 seconds and 120 seconds for tagin to contact the server to find that I had moved! Is there any way of increasing the request time to the server for location changes? If I were a student walking, even if i were blind, I believe I would have covered several rooms in that time.

I assume you are using the Firefox extension, is that correct?
On the Firefox extension we mostly depend on the refresh rate of the browser, so it is not possible to increase the rate at which requests are made to the server. However, this is possible on Android devices, where the tagin! demo app includes a Refresh button that may be used to update the information at any time.

Yes I am using the tagin addin on Firefox. If I were using an Android device wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the update process if I had to keep pushing the refresh button and if I were blind to find it on the screen!

On Android devices with a D-Pad (on a hardware keyboard) you can find the button using a screen reader like TalkBack. That aside, we do have other accessibility issues to solve. Also, note that both the extension and the Android app are only demos that showcase the basic functionality of the tagin! engine. Custom implementations can ping the server as many times as they want whether the requests are automatic or triggered by users.
