Mac PPC version

Asked by Ian M

I'm using the Windows version at work and finding it very useful. At home I'm using Mac OSX 4.something but it's the PPC version so at present I can't use the Mac version. Are there any plans to release a universal binary? Thanks, Ian.

I'd love to provide an universal binary. Unfortunately I only know how to build x86 binaries on my Macbook. But if someone could point me to the right documentation or even take over the task, I'll be glad to distribute a PPC version of Tagaini.

I wish I could offer more than a test environment, but I'm not a programmer.

There appears to be relevant information here:
http://developer.apple.com/macosx/adoptinguniversalbinaries.html
http://developer.apple.com/documentation/MacOSX/Conceptual/universal_binary/

Since this is not the first time PPC binaries are asked, I'll have a look - can't promise anything however, especially if it turns to be too much time consuming... :(

Thanks for your response. In the meantime I'll continue to enjoy using the Windows version :)

Good news - 0.2.2 has been released as a universal binary. It should now work on any Mac (feedback would be appreciated).

The web site still says "Intel" and not "Universal Binary". Just thought I'd let you know.

Just to make it clear, I was talking about the binary on Mac OsX PPC ... it seems to be working nicely ... I'll post more if necessary ....

Nice! Thanks for reporting, as I could not test on PPC before releasing.

2 things:
1. I'll be more than happy to be a Mac PPC tester for you.
2. In the new interface, on the Mac and PC versions, the "Study Tags Notes JLPT Vocabulary Kanji" line of text is a bit difficult to read. Any chance of making the text a little bit bigger in the next version?

This version seems a lot better than the last one.
Thanks very much.

Hello Ian,

I guess your readibility problems come from a custom font you are using as the system font. The font of the extenders button is indeed a little bit smaller than the default size - as the text is constant I thought it does not matter much if they are actually a little bit smaller than the rest. I'm not sure if this makes sense. Could you send me a screenshot?

Sure I can send you a screenshot? Where shall I send it to?

You can post it there and tell me the link: http://www.tinypic.com/

Anyway, I tried it on Vista to fix a windows-only bug, and I agree this is too small for the general case. I guess it would not hurt to waste a couple of pixels.

Right, indeed this is tiny. Note this could be fixed with a better font, but anyway I'll make the extender's buttons text bigger for the next release.

Thanks for reporting!
