PXE Boot of Live Image

Asked by Mahdi2006

Hi there,

first i want to say, that the systemback utility is great for creating live images for usb devices. They work very great on UEFI as well as on BIOS computers.

Now i have a question: I created a live image of an Ubuntu 14.04.4. It works great on UEFI and BIOS computers from an usb device. But now lets go to my problem: I want to boot this image via Network (using iPXE) for UEFI computers only. This just doesnt work: if i try to implement the iso file, iPXE tells me an "format exec error" (but if i take another live iso image, like systemrescuecd, it works fine!). When i extract those three files (filesystem.squashfs, initrd.gz, vmlinuz) and try to boot them via iPXE, the "vmlinuz" will load successfully, but after that, the "initrd.gz" and "filesystem.squashfs" will not be loaded (iPXE tells me: File could not be found or format exec error, something like this, its just to fast i can´t read the whole text).

So my question is: Is it possible to boot a systemback created live image via PXE on an UEFI computer, and if yes, how can i achieve this? If its not possible, will it be implemented in an upcoming version of systemback?

Thank you in advance.

Sorry, but I do not know. The PXE compatibility has never been a goal, so I have never tried. Now the Systemback development and maintenance is ended, because of my other things.

Can you help with this problem?
