Automatic Deletion of restore points

Asked by Fred

Why is there an automatic deletion of restore points? I had an "original" just installed and tweak version saved, and after a few failed system updates and restores (problem with software) I figured I'll go back to the ORIGINAL version, only shocked to see that it had disappeared, and worse was actually deleted from the HDD.
I had no idea that systemback actually just deleted restore points because of some radio button, nor until I searched these answers did I realise what "highlight" actually did.
There isn't even a hint when you select "create restore point" that it tells you that it will delete a "radio button" selected by default saved restore point.
The built is feature sucks.
Any deletion should be prompted to the user! Regardless!

PS Still can't find a manual or explanation of what everything does. After losing my ORIGINAL save point, I too scared to just play with it to see what it does.

The Systemback is designed to the frequent (daily) restore point creation. The process using hard links between restore points, and there is some limitations. This is why the maximum number of the stored restore points (10 temporary and 5 highlighted).
If you want to keep a restore point, just move it to the highlighted ones (max 5 in a storage directory). The highlighted restore points will not be automatically removed.
