Live System installation from .iso - broken desktop

Asked by Vaggelis

Hi,

I'm trying to create and use a Live System iso from my current ubuntu14.04 system. I managed to create the iso as Systemback is easy to use. Firstly, I want to check the iso in virtualbox, so I set up a vm and boot from the iso. The problem is that when I choose "Boot Live System" the system that boots has only the background image and the desktop files on desktop, nothing else, no icons, no toolbarrs. I try to open settings with rigth click and the windows shown up are broken - many options missing. The same happens when I install the system from the istaller on boot screen. Could you please help me with that issue?

Thanks a lot, I would appreciate it if you answered my question.

I think this happen because the proprietary (closed source) video driver. The VirtualBox uses own (emulated) device, that is not compatible with AMD or NV drivers.
Please uninstall all closed source drivers before create a Live image, or use Live images only on the original machine.

Hi Kendel,
Thanks for the response. My issue seems to has been solved. I created another iso from scratch and now it works fine.
