Install Ubuntu onto HD from LiveBoot Systemback Image USB

Asked by Naomi

I am trying to image 75 acer aspire's for the school I work for with Ubuntu 14.04 - it needed a couple extras like chrome and our wireless configuration for example.

I created a live boot using systemback and can boot into the image on another laptop but only from the flash drive. I obviously can't leave a flash drive in 75 laptops for third graders :) . I can't find the installer as someone had pointed out on another forum I investigated.

I boot to USB, The Systemback Live screen appears, I select "Boot Live System", goes right to purple Ubuntu loading screen, log in screen, blank desktop. It nevers gives the option to install like it would with a fresh iso. But I had read that it is supposed to leave an install icon on the desktop, although it does not - I assume because this is an exact image of the original laptop

I don't have the "try or install" option that you would tranditionally see when booting with a fresh Ubuntu ISO, there is not an install icon on the desktop, and I am also not able to boot straight into systemback.

How do I install the iso image onto the hard drives of the other laptops/Is there a way to force it to install from the terminal?

Once the live usb is booted, open Sytemback and you will see install options :)

Just start the Systemback on the created Live system (because the Systemback is the installer).
And the next version (1.6) will include the "Install the system" Syslinux/GRUB menu entry for Live systems. So the direct installer starting will be possible soon.

Okay good...so I think I was on the right track...but now the issue I am having is in systemback in the system install, I get past all my preferences like name and login and then I can't get past the Partition Settings screen.

The "next" button never becomes available. I select my partition...then nothing. I can only create new partitions, unmount, and delete.

Any clue what I am doing wrong?

Thank you for your help by the way! :)

Just set the new mount points (the minimum is the '/', so root filesystem). So select a partition, '/' mount point, filesystem and click the green arrow button.

Can you help with this problem?
