Systemback installation aborted too

Asked by patrick

The info box says: There has been critical changes in the file system during this operation.
                                               Installation aborted.

So I am running from a terminal and there is no error message in the terminal.
This install was to sdb5 with grub2 on an OS in sdb1. So I update grub2 in
sdb1 and the Systemback install in sdb5 does boot and appears to be running.

Also, did a similar install to a flash drive and the error message in the info box
appeared with nothing in the terminal, but, grub2 did not install to the MBR of
the flash drive. I had to use Systemback to manually repair the install and
fix grub2 on the flash drive.

So there is something going on not good but no error message in terminal. Is
there a log file ? Or ?

THX

I don't know, this is a general error message.
But please be patient, I'm working on improving the debugging. I will add some fixed debug signal to make it easier to find the problem source. I will upload a new daily version on tomorrow.

Well I can do that from running version with the update then. Save
some time making a new ISO. Errors appear to be similar.

thanks for the response.

Sorry for the delay. I created many new error messages and I updated the daily packages (nemh/systemback-daily) (1.5.099). Please upgrade your Systemback packages and run the program in terminal emulator. If you get any error message, please show me.

Hi,

I am using Jessie. I'll probably need a package for Jessie.

Please advise.

The Ubuntu 14.10 packages are compatible with Debian Jessie. So if you can, please install these packages. If not, I will build Jessie packages later.

OK I have a message.

$ /usr/lib/systemback/sbsustart systemback gtk+

An error occurred while opening the following file:

  /.sbsystemcopy/etc/gshadow

This was from an install of currently running system to another
partition. I may have deleted that file after making an ISO a week
ago. But neither the ISO or current running system will install.

However, my other ISO, from a different jessie partition, works fine
when installing from live ISO to a partition.

Should be the info needed I hope.

Yes. This is an essential system configuration file. If missing when you copying the current system, you get this error message because the Systemback does not verify that exists. So trying to open for read, but it fails.
Just create this missing file, then the problem disappears.

Hi,

Created the file, populated it with the grpck command and ran an
install from current system. Finished 100% OK and did boot.

So it appears to be solved.

Thanks very much.
