Create Image or Installer for use in Virtualbox.??

Asked by Dave

Hello,

Is it possible to make an Image or Installer of my "Live Laptop"
and use this image or installer to put it into a Virtualbox machine.??

Edit:
I want to keep all my data, and "same user",
so I can just use the vm like it was my "Live Laptop" in the same way.
I have no need to use laptop any-more, so want it in a VM on my desktop.

Many Thanks for any help/advice

Dave

Yes, if the created image size is smaller than 4 GB (ISO limit). Just disable all hardware specific program (like AMD and NV closed-source drivers) and install the VirtualBox guest packages (virtualbox-guest-dkms, for the better usability). If you need to include your data files from your user home directory, just check the "Include user data files" checkbox. But after the installation, check your datas existence of safe just in case.
If the image size is greater than 4 GB, just do not include the data files. But after the system installation, copy the files with samba share.
