Systemback adding drive to media directory

Asked by caver1

Systemback for the first two scheduled backups put the backup where I tell it to then it makes it's own place.
I have an external drive that is named Backup. That is all it is used for. Systemback is set up to use /media/caver1/backup.
which it does for the first two backups. Then Systemback changes the name of that drive to Backup1 adds another Backup
and uses it. The problem with that is the Backup that is made is in my root file system and not the external drive so it is filling up my root file system. At the same time if I do have to do a restore from one of the backup points because for some reason my disk or OS goes bellyup Those points won't be accessible.
How do I get this behavior to stop?

This is happen because the partition is not stored in /etc/fstab file, and the udev is recreating the mount point with a serial number, because it already exist (so the mount point is not constant).
Systemback uses the original storage directory path, so creating the new restore points in the /media/caver1/backup, not in the /media/caver1/backup1. This is a normal, expected behavior.
If you using a subdirectory instead of a mount point (for example /media/caver1/backup/sb_backup), Systemback can recognize that the storage directory is not available, so doesn't creating more restore points. But the best solution is to combine this with the fstab mounting.

Now I improve this behavior (in version 1.2.2). If the original storage directory is a mount point, then when the (or other) partition is not mounted, the false storage dir will not be used.
True, this is not a solution for your problem, because your problem is not Systemback bug or anything. But if the mount point is changed, Systemback does not creating new scheduled restore points.

I did try entering the usb drive in fstab. Then I could only see the Systemback restore points as root. As user I couldn't even see them. I should be able to at least see them as user. Without the drive being in fstab I could see and access them as user.
I get the behavior of the false storage when the computer has not been rebooted so the mount point is the same. Even when the computer is rebooted
The mount point is the same as there is no other external drive for the mount points to be switched with. The mount point is always sdb1. Using Ubuntu 14.04.

Can you help with this problem?
