systemback installation

Asked by Cy O'Hara

Having installed Back In Time on my recently installed Ubuntu 14.04 I find that I have "you do not have permission" problems to set up on my external hard drive? Is it me?
I will purchase Systemback if there is a conflict problem.

I'm sorry, but your question is not clearly understandable for me. I don't know this "Back In Time" program, but what is the the problem with Systemback? Or what exactly would you like to know?

Hi,
Thanks for your response. Yes, sorry for the confusion.
Systemback is a back up distro that I might purchase if I cannot resolve BACK IN TIME which is also a backup system but which is a free downloadable from the Ubuntu site.
The problem I am having, is not being able to select things like 'my external drive' as a place for storage of backups.

Ok, but Systemback is fully free (open source, GPLv3, pre-compiled binaries in PPA), no need the purchase.
Systemback supports the Linux filesystems to stores the restore points. You can select a directory on your Linux-formatted external drive. The NTFS, FAT32 and other non-Linux filesystems are not supported (because Linux permissions).
