iso does not boot it goes to busy box

Asked by Nanni Bassetti

I created the ISO, then I write it on USB pendrive and then
after the boot screen everything I choose (boot live or boot debug, etc.) I get this:

can't find /dev/sr0 invalid argument
etc.
can't open /dev/sr1 no medium found
etc.
can't mount /dev/sr0 on /dev/cdrom
etc.
mount: mounting /dev/sda1 on /cdrom failed: no medium found
mount: mounting /dev/sda2 on /cdrom failed: no medium found
mount: mounting /dev/sda5 on /cdrom failed: no medium found
mount: mounting /dev/sdc1 on /cdrom failed: no medium found
etc.

and finally:
BusyBox
(initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system

I tried on two different pendrive....what can I do?
Thank you

I cannot reproduce this error. Please try the pendrive with other computer(s). If error is persistent, then give me more information (Linux kernel and distribution, Systemback version, machine type, ...).

Tomorrow I'll confirm the versions...but using my memory now I can report this:
1) I used the last release of systemback
2) Ubuntu 12.04 amd64 last kernel 3.2.8-35
3) I tested the ISOs in virtualbox and in 2 computers

Thanks

Ok I confirm the kernel is 3.8.0-35 Ubuntu 12.04 amd64
Systemback is 0.7.7.401_01.020.14_GTK+
after running scripts casper_premount I got this:
mounting /dev/sr0 on /cdrom failed invalid argument live
BusyBox
(initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system

This happens even if I run the .iso in VirtualBox, so I guess that's not a problem of the pendrive....

Casper-helpers file? You have modified this file? Or this error is occured with the original content? If so, what do you have to be modified to eliminate the error?

no it was modified by me....and I made a mistake...but now I launch the ISO in Vbox and it starts fine only in safegraphics, all the icons on the Desktop disappeared except for the classic 3 icons (home, computer and trashcan)...I get many errors bound to some apps I installed....
Maybe have I to copy some dirs into /etc/skel or in /root to have the same configuration in the ISO? (like it was for Remastersys).
Can I suggest to make a config file for Systemback for enabling many other grub boot entries, e.g. install linux (ubiquity), start from the HD, Text mode only....
Thanks a lot for your work.

PS: I got always an error when I try to write ISO on USB, It crashes saying "Cannot write live system" after a bunch of minutes...
PPS: Now at the boot of the ISO the splash.png does not appear no more...even if it is inside the ISO.

User icons stored in ~/Desktop dir, ergo these must be included in the system image ('Inculde user data files' option). But when installing the Live system (with Systemback) these files are not be installed (only if copying the system with same option). Use /etc/skel dir if you want to install files or dirs (without 'Transfer user configuration files' install option).
Systemback uses own GRUB and isolinux config, this cannot be manually changed. Can be changed in these files after you have created the Live image. But Systemback isn't compatible with the Ubiquity, uses own installer.

Use Systemback USB writer with .sblive files. ISO is a compatible mode for optical disks and VirtualBox (if created file size is less than 4GB).
