ubuntu 9.04 64 bit not recongizing usb

Asked by hopestar

I have had ubuntu before, all I had to do was put my usb printer into it and automatically it installed it. That included everything else. THis is not happening. Now if I put in any usb into the slot it does not seem to recognize what to do with it. Any ideas?
