Webcam not working with upgrade

Asked by Sheila

After doing a clean install of 10.04, everything seems to be working wonderfully, except no webcam! I hit the fn f-10 to toggle it on or off and check in the terminal that it is actually there. But when on Cheese is a black screen and skype is also blank.
I have the bonop2 and now running 10.04 (was on 8.xx). Am I missing a step somewhere? I have re-installed the 76 drivers and still the same thing (re-booted too) :o)

Thank you for your time in reading this.

Sheila

Shelia,

The webcam on your bonp2 should work out of the box with 10.04.

Please shut Cheese down. Also, *comletely* turn Skype off (i.e. click the icon on the upper toolbar and select "quit" from the resulting submenu).

Now turn only cheese on. Does the cam work?

If not turn completely close cheese down again. Press Fn and F10 *simultaneously.* Now open Cheese back up. Did that work?

If not, your webcam is bad. Please contact support...at...system76...dot...com for further instructions.

Best,
Tom
