Chinese input in Synapse

Asked by Barbara Buri

When I try to input Chinese characters in Synapse with ibus (shortcut: Ctrl+Space) the Synapse window disappears as soon as I hit the Ctrl key and Chinese input is not possible. How is it possible to input Chinese characters? (It works fine in Gnome-do.)

Unfortunately none of the current developers use, nor know how to use scim/ibus. Patches are welcome though.

this is a show-stopper for me.... note that I can type Chinese, Japanese, Hindi etc. into synapse (unlike, for example kupfer) but I can't see what i'm typing at all, and I can't see the character selection window to choose a particular character. This is the same with iBus and SCIM. The problem is that the actual input is hidden. To use these complex IMEs, I really have to be able to see what I'm typing. Perhaps a theme could be created that would allow this for those of us who need it?

Can you help with this problem?
