Optional tray icon

Will ever be an option to show a tray icon on system tray (indicator)?
I think it's important to have a visual feedback for the user in order to know if the program is running or not (i.e. since it's still in development it can crash.). Tray icon should have some menu entries like:
* ABOUT;
* CONFIGURATION (or PREFERENCES);
* EXIT (or CLOSE);
