How to compile without Zeitgeist support?

Asked by acidrums4

Hi, I'm very interested in your proyect. I use Gentoo, Zeitgeist is not already present into Portage and I don't want to use it at the moment.
But I couldn't compile Synapse because it depends of Zeitgeist; in some web-sites people say that Zeitgeist support comes into Synapse as an extension but I couldn't find a way to compile it without Zeitgeist, neither in ./configure options or something like that...
¿How could I compile Synapse without Zeitgeist or another 'extension' support?

PD: Please excuse me for my bad english.

Currently it depends on Zeitgeist to do proper searching. You need to install Zeitgeist to make use of it.

It's a pity that Synapse depends of it... Hope that the support of Banshee or another apps don't be the same thing here.

In the future release I will try to make it easier to build Synapse without Zeitgeist, but that being said, it'll be very crippled and stupid version.

That's the matter about free software, you can choose what you want or need. My suggestion was that support of Zeitgeist were optional, not restrictive. I just could install Synapse and have to install libzeitgeist, just for compiling it, I don't use Zeitgeist at all. Many other people only want a fast and effective launcher. Synapse can be it without Zeitgeist, people should choose if they want that their installation can do more things against low speed and more resource consumption, or a very simple and fast launcher. Maybe Zeitgeist can be a gate to the future about an interaction with files and events, but for now many people around here are very happy without it! :)
