access Synaps without Keystone

Asked by Henry Wong

Hi June,

You mentioned that it was possible to access Synaps without Keystone, do you have instructions for this?

Also, will running "keystone ec2-credentials-list" provide the access and secret keys for Openstack? Thought that command was only for connecting to EC2 instances.

Henry

Hi, Henry.

I'll prepare an instructions for accessing synaps without keystone in a few day.

For an answer of your second question, Openstack nova and swift provides limited level of AWS compatibility (ec2 and s3). ec2-credentials is used for those compatibility. So I think it makes sense that synaps use those credentials to provide AWS compatibility.

Below is an example for keystone command.

$ keystone ec2-credentials-list
+--------+----------------------------------+----------------------------------+
| tenant | access | secret |
+--------+----------------------------------+----------------------------------+
| admin | ***************************************** | ***************************************** |
| demo | ***************************************** | ***************************************** |
+--------+----------------------------------+----------------------------------+

Thank you,
June Yi

Hi, Henry.

Sorry for late answer. I have updated the instructions in the document [1] . And I updated LDAP setting tools into the code repository. To use the tools, I recommend you upgrade your synaps instance to version 2013.2.3 release.

Thank you,
June Yi
