Sleep, suspend and Hibernate modes not working

Asked by Kristaps

I have tried different ways that I could find on net for fixing the issue of sleep and hibernate on Asus X552L but noting seems to help. I'm using Elementary OS Freya Version 0.3. Is anyone else having this problem and is there an easy fix ? I keep forgetting to shut down pc every time I stop using it and next day the battery is drained and pc has shut down. If laptop goes in to a sleep mode then when it wakes up the notebook seems to be working but screen is black . I have tried different ways to wake it up with ALT+F1, ALT+F7, entering password but nothing helps. After hard reboot it loads at grub with grub load error so have to do ctr+alt+del to get a normal boot up but the work has been lost ofc, please help ?

turn down the screen lead, it automatically puts ur pc in suspend mode. you can tell it looking your laptop's indicator leds.

in freya 0.3 i think there is a problem in managing swap partitions, even forcing hibernation from terminal (which is always been supported) my acer aspire s3 simply turn off, without saving ram content in swap partition, I tried also to change to another partition/disk but nothing changed.

Hope this is useful.
