What is the best way to go for a printer for my OS?

Asked by Sandra O'Neal

I had a fairly new Brother MFC-J4700W that does not seem able to connect to my Elementary OS. Brother will give me no support. Attempting to use the software that worked when I had windows draws a blank. I thought ther might be a chance it would work using a connecting cord. I heard that cannon has a printer that lists itself as compatible, but they also say they will give no support. Do I have to buy a new printer in order to us my E O . I'd sure rather not. But if I absolutely must, do you know what is the best one to buy for that in the cheapest version possible?
