screen resolution

Asked by Thijs

I run a brand new installation of Elementary OS, and tried to change the screen resolution because right now everything is real big and stretched out. When I look to the screen settings I try to change the screen resolution but only 640x480 apears in the list. I don't know what the right setting would be.

Hope you can help me out!

With regards,
Thijs

After searching online i found the xrandr command. That should be able to give me more information about the perfect resolution for my screen. When I type xrandr in the terminal, this is what I get

xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 640 x 480, maximum 640 x 480
default connected 640x480+0+0 0mm x 0mm
   640x480 73.0*

Hope that this gives a little lead to a solution to this problem.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Please forget about my question... after trying this os for a day, I found out that my notebook is too slow to run it smooth. I got to switch to xubuntu.... to bad, becouse elementary looks Gorgeous.

I'll defenetly be back in the future with a beter computer.

Thanks anyway to give the oportunity for asking this question at all. As a newbe in the open source world I'm still surprised everyday to see what's all possible.

Good luck with the further development and keep up the good work!
