Will Swift implement SMB/SMB2 Protocols?

Asked by Ryan Rodd

Because being able to call a Swift account as a Windows share would be awesome. Sorry if this has already been stated in the documentation somewhere.

There aren't plans to add SMB support currently, but we aren't opposed to adding that support. In fact, we've talked about supporting the WebDAV protocol. Currently, this is a low priority, but, as always, patches are welcome.

I guess I should clarify: swift is not a block store, so we can't add anything that requires block semantics. If SMB requires block-level access, we can't support it. WebDAV, since it's implemented over HTTP, could be possible, but, again, it's low priority.

Can you help with this problem?
