Guys. First rule of connection errors in ANY application: Check if the server is available.

http://opensubtitles.com/ is down. It's been down for a good part of the day.

This is the reason you're not logged in. This is the reason you can't log in.

It's not a bug.

The opensubtitles.org admin moved his servers yesterday, he's fixing the subdownloader login right now.

Anyway this bug reminds me that I have to show a Dialog box when the login has an error showing the error cause and a button to try to reconnect.

Hi

I am using the 2.0.9.3 version, and the latest 1½ month I can't log into my account by using the software.
But if I am going direct to the website; http://www.opensubtitles.org, there is no problems.

Can somebody please help me - it is not nice to have a license key to a software that is not working.......8O(

Best regards

Right now the server is down too.

We are sorry but the software has no problems, the problem is of the server
which does not belong to us.

Please retry when it will be online again.

Best Regards.
Ivan.

The admin of the server www.opensubtitles.org has disabled the API for the moment(until he gets new server next week).

Hi, I convinced the admin of www.opensubtitle.org to at least allow registered users to login.

Please retry to login into SubDownloader with your user/password that you can get from www.opensubtitles.org , the admin has enabled only for registered users to login.
Anonymous users (blank user/password) login will be disabled until he gets new server by next week.

Best Regards.

I have just bought this software and it doesn't work. If operating of https://opensubtitles.org is necessary for normal function of software, you should take care also about availability of this server.
I would like to ask you for my money back.

Thank you a lot,

I am able to login on opensubtitles.org with my account, however: if I use SubDownloader to login it fails.

Is this still the same issue?

The problem is due to the xml-rpc server was changed.

Change DEFAULT_OSDB_SERVER in file /usr/share/subdownloader/modules/SDService.py to
"http://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc" and you must be able to connect again.

All this is due that opensubtitles.org has changed his API address
A windows updated binary will be released very soon.

For the time being can try the patched proposed or download the linux binary.

Best Regards.
Ivan.

I had the same issues with all of you , trying to login but always receiving an error, with v.2.0.x from the ubuntu repo.
I have installed the latest version 2.0.10 and the problem has disappeared.
Thanks to the dev team.

I found the file Laudeci sayed in my ubuntu in /usr/share/subdownloader/modules/ and SDService.py
I opened the file with gedit, i found the DEFAULT_OSDB_SERVER line in the script, I replaced it to "http://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc" but I cant save the changes because I have no permission, it says that im not the owner of the file, and the file is only made for reading...!
How can I change it then ??

Thank you !

To open a file with root permissions, open the terminal (inside the accessories menu) and type:

sudo gedit /usr/share/subdownloader/modules/SDService.py <- asks for your user password in the terminal

or

gksudo gedit /usr/share/subdownloader/modules/SDService.py <- asks for your user password in a friendly way :)

Cheers

Just downloaded SubDownloader and installed it (XP SP3) and I cannot login (the same error already described). On 2010-03-15 it was said that a fix would be released "very soon". Can anyone tell me if it was released yet?

For windows there is this version.
http://edge.launchpad.net/subdownloader/trunk/2.0.10/+download/SubDownloader-2.0.10.exe

These days the opensubtitles.org server seems very overloaded, so it may also have some login problems cause Subdownloader uses that 3rd party server to retrieve subs.

Install that version and retry as many times as possible until u get lucky :-)

Nw the error is bigger. Previously I could at least see my opensubtitles username next to the "ERROR". Now I just get "Session: ERROR" while before it was "Session: [username] ERROR"
