can't find IP address of speakers DHCP

Asked by adam

Was able to connect and play on speakers using method described in
however, sound was choppy and intermittent as described by other, so trying stream2ip instead.

Have selected airport express in preferences and tried a few IPs ,,, etc as these seem to be the default Apple IPs but still can't get stream2ip to make a peep.

Also tried 'route'

Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
default downtheroad-AE. UG 0 0 0 wlan0 * U 9 0 0 wlan0
link-local * U 1000 0 0 wlan0

Reading other articles advise that the IP address under Gateway is the IP of the airport, but stream2ip doesn't like this either.
How do you find the IP?

P.S. Also have no problem connecting to speakers using windows and ITunes

logged into my router to see if I could find anything in there... found

Hardware Address Assigned IP Hostname Expires
00:2b:73:21:a3:26 downtheroad-AE 22 Hours 21 Minutes

so tried

but no joy.... might be something else is the problem.

address found in router logs was correct.

Don't know what I did to resovle, disconnected in stream2ip and reconnected a few times and it suddenly started working.

Sound quality seems fairly flakey though... now to get Spotify working.

Choppiness unfortunately is not much we can do about as its related to the pulseaudio-module-raop, and interaction with some media players.

We investigated this some time ago but the only thing we found was that players behave differently on different hardware. Nevertheless it is worth to try with another media player, this can make quite a difference.
