sounds breaks continuously

Asked by Federico Larsen

I looks like there is no buffer enabled.
It start play right the way, but it's cuts constantly.
Macs wait for 5 seconds or so, and then the music does not cut.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04
Is there any chance to increase this buffer time in order to play music constantly.

Kind regards for any pointer you can give me.

Choppy playback with pulseaudio-module-raop is a known but so far unsolved issue for some music players, depending on your system. Buffer size could be changed in pulseaudio config files but I was unable to see any effect by doing so. Best is you try out different players until any one fits your needs. On my system mplayer, gmusicplayer, audacious, exaile, and (my favorite) guayadeque play fine wheras amarok, rhythmbox and totem are choppy. This may well be different on your system, so you have to try out. I have no idea why that is so.

Thanks you very much for your response.
I tried a couple of players but they do the same. And actually I am trying to use so I need the spotify client.
What I can do very well is to pipe any mp3 with JustePort.exe following this instructions, but I dont know how to make pulse audio to send the music to the airport using this program.
Check this link out:

maybe with a twist your app can use this as an alternative.

Thank you!

AFAIK pulseaudio module-raop is an integration of JustePort to ALSA to build an audio sink accessible to all programs running. Howver there are limitations and functionality is far from Mac. Maybe something eats up your system power during this process? Are your running spotify from wine or do you test the (pre alpha) linux version?

You will find instructions on how to setup PA on

As for your suggestion to integrate JustePort, I will keep this in mind for a future release. Still, stream2ip is at a very early stage of development. At the moment my focus is on integrating devices other than the AEX.

Can you help with this problem?
