playercolor in sprites

hi!, i wonder if there is a way to make sprites like decorations (lifebar for example) but with the hability to change their colors just like the sprites for units (playercolors), so with that i could make something like this: http://imageshack.us/f/710/image7sr.png/
just like dungeon keeper does, it would be very cool ^^
