Stellarium OK for Windows 7 64-bit?

Asked by Trevor Wright

Hi - I'm new to Stellarium and want to run it on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.

The various other questions I've seen suggest that maybe I should wait until the next release?

Your advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

As far as I know, no one among the Stellarium developers uses a 64-bit system, so you can get qualified advice only from other users. :) This also means that the next version probably won't be tested on 64-bit systems.

You can try installing 0.10.2, although the next version is due to be released by the end of January.

I guess it is possible to set a program to be run in 32-bit compatibility mode, isn't it? There was also something about disabling desktop composition to avoid flickering. Also, if you want to try the additional star catalogs, you may want to wait for the next version - there are problems with this feature on every operating system with strongly enforced user rights.

Can you help with this problem?
