no constellation lines showing with Vista

Asked by belstar

I'm running Windows Vista and Stellarium ver 0.10.2 and Constellation Lines will not show (at all). (There is also a delay in showing the other options, I have to switch to another window and then come back and then they display).
Before I had this version I had 0.9.x and the constellation lines wouldn't show on that either. But the other options worked fine straight away. In either version when I click the Constellation Lines icon the icon turns white as if it's "on" but the lines don't show. Using "C" doesn't work either. It's a shame as this is a feature I used to use most. I guess I'll have to give up and see if there's an older version I can install. Can you help before I resort to doing that?
Thanks

I've just uninstalled ver 0.10.2 and installed an old version: 0.9.0 and this works fine, the constellation lines (Drawings of the Constellations) now come up with no problem and everything else displays properly and quickly. (NB I realised there were all sorts of wierd display problems with ver 0.10.2 as well as the CLines not showing).

As other people who use Windows Vista have reported that they run Stellarium 0.10.2 without any problems, the problem most probably is in your graphics card or your graphics card's driver.

When experiencing a graphics issue, the first thing to try should be updating your graphics card driver to the latest version available on the website of the card's manufacturer.

Everything else seems to work OK but can't see constellation lines. After reading answer above, I checked for graphics card driver update but already have the latest. (Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family ???).
1. Any help?
2. How do I find earlier releases to download? (I started with 10.2 and just installed 10.4)

Many thanks, Tom

The constellation lines problem seems to be an issue with some graphics card and/or the OpenGL implementation in their drivers. I can't help you much here.

You can download old releases of Stellarium here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/stellarium/files/

Please make sure that you delete the old configuration file before you install a new version, as some versions can be affected by this.

Thanks for the help Bogdan. I had to go back to version 0.9.0 before it worked. (Pity, as the new versions are otherwise very much improved). Guess all I can do is just try new releases as they develop. Thanks Again, Tom

Can you help with this problem?
