Weird display when going to the options

Asked by Hugo

Hi,

When I go in the options of the Stellarium I obtain weird windows of oblique lines, like if the resolution is not supported, it does that for all the display options from the left menu ie : Date/Time, Options, Location, Search, etc. I created a screenshot of the issue but I'm not sure it can be attached. I did try to uninstall and reinstall many times (cleaning the registry as well), change the resolution of the screen, play with the Compatibility mode of WIndows Vista(english, Business SP2)

As I really love this software, but I'm unable to use it being unable to adjust the settings and especially date/time and location.

Thanks a lot!
Hugo

I have the exact same problem using Windows XP Pro. I am able to only set the location, all the other windows for the options on the left of the screen, when selected, show a distorted window box, which I am unable to read , as it is just shows a distorted diaganol box .As the person above states, its like the box cant handle the resolution, and is completely unreadable.

I think I found a fix for the distorted menu boxes . I found that if you select one of the options on the left side of the screen, and the box that opens up is distorted, and unreadable, place the mouse on either side of the box edge, and drag it either wider or smaller in very small increments, until the text re-appears. This seems to work, and once you have found the size that makes all well, it will keep that for next time. I tried that on 3 of the option menu boxes that werent displaying correctly, and now I can actually make them out .......

This does work, but unfortunately, every time you restart the programme, the boxes that are distorted do not maintain the resize from previous, and once again , have to get dragged either smaller or wider to once again be able to view the text. Very annoying but at least there is a fix for it that is temporary.

This is a known bug:

The solution is to update your graphics card driver to the latest version available on ATI's website (there's a link on the Wiki page).
