Celestron Telescope Control Plug-in with wifi

Asked by Frank Cassia

I'm running Stellarium on my Windows 10 laptop. I have a Celestron 8 Nexstar Evolution that generates its own wifi. Is it possible to use Stellarium with the Celestron wifi connection and if so what parameters do I need to set?
Thanks,
Frank Cassia

We do not have a Celestron 8 Nexstar Evolution to check ourselves.

Maybe this works with StellariumScope as described in the Guide.

I installed StellariumScope as you recommended(version 2016.12.26.351). Section 8 of the User's Guide, Scope Driver Setup, shows the listing of ASCOM Telescope Chooser. My drop-down only has 6 options of which 1 is a diagnostic and 2 are simulators. I do not see the Celestron option which is what I need.
Any ideas???
Regards,
Frank C.

Are you can drive your mount from PC through Celestron's software? Are you had installed drivers (include ASCOM drivers) for your mount?

Based on your question, I installed the Celestron ASCOM driver. The problem I have now is that when I select the Celestron telescope the Properties window requires a com port. I am connected to the scope via wifi. I will buy a usb cable and try that and let you know how I make out.
Thanks

Problem solved thanks to a YouTube video that showed how to attach the comm cable. I needed to get an adapter for the hand controller. All is working.
Thanks
