Dropping frames

Asked by Daniel on 2017-04-09

Upgraded to the new version and it is lagging extremely on my MacBook Pro Mid 2015 model. I open it up on my iMac (non-retina) and it runs totally fine. Anyone else experiencing frames dropping with the latest update or have a potential fix? MacBook is on Sierra.

We got 3 reports about framerate regress for GUI on retina macbooks. No idea how to fix it yet (no retina devices in developers).

Thanks for the reply.. Would you like me to help out in anyway? Logs, etc?

This is really strange. The newer GUI classes now in use raised framerate on Ubuntu/NVidia, and quite significantly so (>80fps on a 2009 laptop!). On Win10 I did not notice big changes. Can you build from sources, and set USE_OLD_QGLWIDGET to 1?

Speaking of Retina, maybe this slowness is a side effect of 4k rendering? Are there settings concerning HiDPI on an Apple?

I can try.. I'm not sure how to build from sources, any docs on this? My Mac ins't a 4k model. I believe the native resolution is 2880x1330. Mid 2015 make. The iMac I'm using is - I believe - an early 2012 model (pre-4k, even retina) as well. That is working beautifully.
