telescope plug in problem

Asked by Bill Beaton

hi

I have Stellarium on both my PC laptop and Mac Desktop, the telescope plug in works fine on my PC and I have full control of the Meade LX200 emc however when I try to add the scope to my mac the plug in refuses to save any details once entered. I have tried going back a version to 14.3 but the same problem occurs.

clicking on add a telescope brings up the dialog box and I can enter the details as required, but when I hit ok I get a spinning beachball and when it clears there is nothing in the list of telescopes, the serial port connection list also does not always appear correctly with sometime most alternatives on the list and other times only one (bluetooth for some reason)

the Mac is a 21" desktop (late 2013) with a 2.9GHZ i5

any help would be appreciated

Bill

Hi I had upped the version to 0.15.1 initially and that is where the problem occurred, I have 0.15.1 on my PC and it works fine, I installed version 14.3 on the mac as it has a different version of the telescope plug in, I will go back a few more versions if necessary

Hi

see below, a couple of points are clear (even to me) the mac os version is not supported on the build and the application support is not in the library

I will see if I can sort this out but would appreciate any suggestions, or any thing else that is apparent with the log info

regards

Bill

Hi

the problem seems to be that I can't define the mount (Lx200) when I choose that from the menu or the Port choice nothing happens, the beachball spins and there is nothing in the list of telescopes, I have tried all the variations of the without anything appearing on the list of telescopes

Are you tried read the help in Telescope Control plugin?

Yes. It didn't help

As I have mentioned I have this set up on a pc as well and it works without any problem, it is a straight forward procedure, when I try to add a telescope on my mac, nothing happens, I have checked the info in application support and my input has been recorded , but no telescopes appear on the list and hence I have no way to control my Lx200.

Bill

Hi Guys, I have the exact same problem described here by Bill Beaton, any other suggestions other than "read the Help" ?
Bill, have you managed to get it working?
I am running Sierra and I have a Synscan GOTO but I cannot even add a dummy telescope.

Hi

it works fine on my work PC laptop but not on my Mac desktop iMac 21.5” running Siera 10.12.3

it does however work fine on my wife's old 13” MacBook running the same OS

the laptop is more convenient anyway so I have abandoned the iMac meantime
the plug in simply refused to install anything

regards

Bill
