Not a problem, just a howto question

Asked by Ladislav Heller

Hi!

How to get ALT-AZ coordinates of any sky object when we know only the:
1.) Name of object
2.) Current date/time
3.) Our current position (longitude, latitude)
?

I see from Stellarium, that this is possible, but question is how?
What are the formulas for that?
Is there any public WebService which returns ALT-AZ coordinates based on Name, Date/Time, Lat/Long ?

BR,

Ladislav

These formulae are older than electronic computers by at least many centuries. Astronomy textbooks about ephemeris computation include them.

To search for a web service, you may better use a search engine of your choice.

Great!
I was looking for something like this.
However this is only for our solar system, but for beginnig it's OK.

Thanks!
