Stellarium startup problem

Upon starting Stellarium, I am suddenly getting a blank brown screen. The user interface appears to be functioning, but no sky is visible. Stellarium also seems to think that my location (Columbia, SC, USA) is in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. I have tried deleting and reinstalling Stellarium but that did not resolve the issue.
I am running Stellarium on OSX 10.11.3.
