trouble with mirror dome planetarium

Asked by bluestarplanetarium

I have a traveling planetarium with a rear-mirror projection system. I have been using Stellarium 0.10.2 with spheric mirror distortion. The projection is pretty decent except for the area right near the mirror, so I slew around when I want to look at different parts of the sky. Lately I have been having program crashes with this version (driver issues?).

I tried version 0.12.4 with and without spheric mirror distortion, and they do not look very good on the dome (wavy horizon). I also tried Nightshade and it also does not work well with the rear-mirror projection.

Anyone out there with a rear-dome mirror projection planetarium? What version/settings are you using?

Thank you,
Marc Rouleau

What's wrong with version 0.14.3 on post-2010 hard- and software? I have no dome, but I see dome projection working, and there are seveal distortion configuration parameters.

I did not try 0.14.3, I thought 0.12.4 might have been the latest release.
I will check into it, though.

Thanks,
Marc

I loaded 0.14.3 - it looks like 0.10.2, so I'm hopeful for it. I'll test
it out next time I take out the dome. Thanks, again.

BTW - do you know how I can minimize the window so I can drag it into my
projector's screen? Or is there a setting so it will open in the second
screen? When I run the program it looks maximized in my computers screen
and I can't see how to move it over...

Press the "leave fullscreen" button, move to second screen, press again to maximize.
Then store configuration.
Next time, Stellarium will start in Fullscreen on Screen 2.
That is, on current V0.14. I don't remember 0.12.

Can you help with this problem?
