View offset in window Ocular

Asked by Roger Corbett

Hi,

I am a new user of Stellarium, and I'm having a problem with Ocular. When I go to view an object with Ocular, the circular viewport is offset in the desktop window. The object is still centered in the window, but the Ocular view is to the lower right, often partially obscuring the object. You can see the outcome at one of the links below. Any advice will be appreciated.

OS X 10

Many thanks.

I don't have a Mac, but what's the screen resolution of your system? May be something unexpected.

Thanks for your question. It's a 5K iMac, native resolution 5120 x 2880. Your question made me open the program on a second monitor I have attached and it works just fine. You can change the resolution scale on the mac in 5 increments from 1600 x 900 to 3200 x 1800 and I've tried it at each resolution to no avail. Anyway, the resolution does not really change when you do that, it just looks like it does.

I'm really glad you got me to experiment, but I'm still scratching my head.

Well, some assumptions for screen sizes valid few years ago don't hold any longer - big companies are developing super-high resolutions with micro-pixels faster than half a handful of spare-time developers without this hardware can react. Any volunteers?
