Installation error on Windows 10...

Asked by Barney Smith

I should have gotten a screengrab. Sorry.

Occurred after "2013 Visual C++ Redistributable Package" was installed AFTER Stellarium installed.

Note: This was actually the SECOND time I attempted to Install Stellarium on Windows 10. First time, it couldn't locate the ""2013 Visual C++ Redistributable Package". I Googled ""2013 C++ Redistributable Package", to download and install manually, yet the SECOND download of the installer actually found and installed the package correctly... now I just need to know how to inject the correct SSL key into the application. ;)

The basic error message -- "The ordinal 4430 could not be located in the dynamic link library -- {installdirectory}\ssleay32.dll"

Assume that something is looking to verify an SSL key... maybe the key of the website stellaruim.org... just a guess.

If so, what's the new key, and provide SIMPLE instructions on how to inject it somewhere into my new install.

ELSE...

please research and tell me how to fix.

ALSO, what other things similar post-install "stuff" does the install try to do (that didn't happen because "ordinal 4430" failed) ?

Never heard of such issue. Not that anybody else knows what to do. Google is your best friend here.
Depending on whether this relates to a 32bit or 64 bit version, try to use the other flavour, or try a current beta version downloadable here. There is usually no need for manually installing any extra packages, and even less to inject anything anywhere, this should be automated by the installer. If your installer does not work, download a new one and if suspicious, tell us where you got it from, version number, file name and maybe MD5 sum.

Can you help with this problem?
