Stellarium 0.12.4 freezing up randomly

I run Stellarium 0.12.4 on ubuntu 14.04 LTS on an laptop with 8 GB RAM system. Intel 5500 graphics.

Stellarium completetly freezes suddenly. Unable to move mouse. Unable to change window.

Freezing has occurred while typing in coordinates of a new location (sometimes), clicking on details of a satellite track.

Freezing occurs both when the program has just started, or after it has run for several minutes.

I do not run anything else when I use Stellarium

The only way to "fix" it is to shut down the laptop via the Power Button (cold boot). And then reboot.

The program is useable and I enjoy it very much, but I would rather not have to worry about a sudden freeze for no apparent reason. Please help or explain what I maybe doing wrong. Thanks - rommel

I updated Stellarium from their .org website. Now I have 0.14.2

Seems a lot more stable, but the satellite data is not current :-)
