Meanwhile, I have version 0.15.0 according to GetInfo
I'm running it on Macintosh 10.11.2

Stellarium-0.14.2.dmg
Released on 2016-01-08

If I have the latest version already, I do not want to overwrite my existing version with something older.

This, of course, is not a priority issue, just asking.

0.15 is not out yet.
There was a build for Mac erroneously labelled 0.15. I think it is rather 0.14.1. If you don't experience problems or suffer from issues listed in the release notes for 0.14.2 on https://launchpad.net/stellarium/+download, no need to upgrade.
